STEER does not stand for anything — the meaning is in the acronym of "steering" investments and innovations. While STEER initially started off with both "Scaling to TWh-Energy Endeavors from Research" and "Stanford Technology and Engineering Economics Research" as viable acronyms, we opted to keep STEER as-is for its simplicity.
