Surging interest in gigascale carbon capture is driven by the need to maintain affordable and reliable energy generation and industrial production while tackling rising emissions. From point source capture to ambient carbon removal, capture solutions are technically feasible, yet the path forward is constrained by persistent cost challenges, cancelled projects, and varying technological readiness levels. The question is not whether carbon capture has a role, but how to innovate and most effectively deploy in the near-term to unlock economies of scale and reduce costs.

This Roundtable will convene leaders from across the carbon capture value chain to examine STEER’s tech-centric preliminary analysis on capture economics, technology pathways, and deployment opportunities. Together, we will examine where carbon capture delivers the greatest value, how costs and performance can be balanced across different applications, and what strategies can help industry players scale deployment while remaining competitive in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

If you or your organization are interested in attending, please contact Bennett Johnson (Bennett.Johnson@stanford.edu).

STEER's invitation-only Roundtables are designed to convene small groups (~75) of industry executives under Chatham House Rules to formulate the right questions to ask and answer — all towards helping STEER guide “what to build, where to innovate, and how to invest.”
